Advanced ROV Control Systems for Complex Subsea Operations
Imenco recently produced four advanced ROV Control Panels, designed to operate and control a set of large Pipe Handling Frames used in demanding offshore operations.
A Complex and Integrated Scope
- Four main ROV Control Panels, each with two dedicated sub-assemblies for mudmat deployment
- Eight 50-tonne load pins
- Control and battery canisters for signal interpretation and power supply
- Eight LED displays showing real-time load at each load pin
- Two 150-metre and two 100-metre hydraulic hose bundles
The solution was engineered to support the operation of four large Pipe Handling Frames, working in Master and Follower pairs. Each pair is hydraulically interconnected via a 100-metre, 4 × 1” hose bundle, with ROV hot stab connections at each end, allowing pressurised hydraulic fluid to flow seamlessly between the frames.

Topside, a vessel-based HPU supplies primary hydraulic power to the Master Frame through Imenco’s 150-metre hose bundle, again connected via ROV hot stab.
Engineered for Precision and Reliability
The hydraulically powered ROV Control Panels enable ROV operators to manoeuvre valves that direct hydraulic flow to a range of critical functions. These include hydraulic motors driving screws for gripping and lifting, as well as frame-mounted hydraulic cylinders used for mudmat extension and retraction, lateral movement of clamp arms, and controlled handling of heavy subsea loads.
Each function had to operate flawlessly through carefully designed hydraulic circuits and flow control valves, ensuring predictable, safe and repeatable performance under subsea conditions.

Built for the Subsea Industry
The project demonstrates Imenco’s capability to design, engineer and manufacture complex ROV-controlled hydraulic systems for demanding subsea applications, from concept to final delivery.
