Grounding Cable with Breakaway Device

Enhanced Safety & Risk Prevention
The breakaway device prevents hazardous situations by ensuring the cable detaches safely in the event of an unexpected helicopter departure, reducing the risk of accidents.
Grounding Cable with Breakaway Device
Compliant with latest safety regulations, our grounding cables with breakaway devices meet the latest CAP 437 (8th edition) and HCA requirements.
Introduction
The latest edition of CAP 437 (8th edition) and the Helideck Certification Agency (HCA) mandates that all systems must be equipped with a grounding cable featuring a breakaway device.
Breakaway devices have already been in use on systems with a single-core grounding cable but must now also be installed on all systems fitted with a grounding indicator. This requirement is outlined in CAP 437, Chapter 7, Section 3.6.1(b).
The primary purpose of a grounding cable with a breakaway device is to ensure that the cable detaches safely if the helicopter needs to depart unexpectedly or if the clip is accidentally left connected before takeoff. In such cases, it is crucial that the cable breaks away a short distance from the clip to prevent hazards.
There have been previous incidents where the entire 30-metre grounding cable remained attached to the helicopter during takeoff, creating dangerous situations.
